Priest · Shadow · Row 5 of 7 · 2 ranks
NEW in Forever

Devouring Contagion sits in row 5 of the Priest Shadow tree. A talent tree is simply the grid of talents for one class role. It can take up to 2 points. Max it fully, or put in a few points just to open the rows below.

New in Forever. This talent never existed in Classic, so don't go looking for an old version to compare. There is none.

What Devouring Contagion does at each rank

A rank is one level of a talent. Every rank makes the effect a bit stronger. The list below uses the exact wording from the beta client, word for word.

  1. Rank 1: Reduces the mana cost of your Devouring Plague by 25%. Targets that die while Devouring Plague it is active spreads it, jumping to a nearby enemy within 5 yards for the remaining duration.
  2. Rank 2: Reduces the mana cost of your Devouring Plague by 50%. Targets that die while Devouring Plague it is active spreads it, jumping to a nearby enemy within 10 yards for the remaining duration.

How to reach Devouring Contagion

Row 5 opens after you spend 20 points in the earlier Shadow rows. Level 30 is the earliest you can pick up Devouring Contagion.

Is Devouring Contagion worth the points?

Every rank makes the effect stronger, so putting in a few points while leveling is totally fine. Max it when the final rank is the heart of your endgame build. And if you only need it as a stepping stone, no shame in stopping early.
