What Shield Specialization does at each rank

A rank is one level of a talent. Every rank makes the effect a bit stronger. The list below uses the exact wording from the beta client, word for word.

  1. Rank 1: Increases your chance to Block attacks with your shield by 1% and grants you a 20% chance to generate 5 Rage when you Block.
  2. Rank 2: Increases your chance to Block attacks with your shield by 2% and grants you a 40% chance to generate 5 Rage when you Block.
  3. Rank 3: Increases your chance to Block attacks with your shield by 3% and grants you a 60% chance to generate 5 Rage when you Block.
  4. Rank 4: Increases your chance to Block attacks with your shield by 4% and grants you a 80% chance to generate 5 Rage when you Block.
  5. Rank 5: Increases your chance to Block attacks with your shield by 5% and grants you a 100% chance to generate 5 Rage when you Block.

How to reach Shield Specialization

Row 1 opens after you spend 0 points in the earlier Protection rows. Level 10 is the earliest you can pick up Shield Specialization.

Is Shield Specialization worth the points?

Every rank makes the effect stronger, so putting in a few points while leveling is totally fine. Max it when the final rank is the heart of your endgame build, or when you need it maxed to open the talents below. And if you only need it as a stepping stone, no shame in stopping early.
