What Maelstrom Weapon does at each rank

A rank is one level of a talent. Every rank makes the effect a bit stronger. The list below uses the exact wording from the beta client, word for word.

  1. Rank 1: When you deal damage with a melee attack, you have a chance to reduce the cast time and Mana cost of your next Lightning Bolt spell by 4%. Stacks up to 5 times. Lasts 30 sec.
  2. Rank 2: When you deal damage with a melee attack, you have a chance to reduce the cast time and Mana cost of your next Lightning Bolt spell by 8%. Stacks up to 5 times. Lasts 30 sec.
  3. Rank 3: When you deal damage with a melee attack, you have a chance to reduce the cast time and Mana cost of your next Lightning Bolt spell by 12%. Stacks up to 5 times. Lasts 30 sec.
  4. Rank 4: When you deal damage with a melee attack, you have a chance to reduce the cast time and Mana cost of your next Lightning Bolt spell by 16%. Stacks up to 5 times. Lasts 30 sec.
  5. Rank 5: When you deal damage with a melee attack, you have a chance to reduce the cast time and Mana cost of your next Lightning Bolt spell by 20%. Stacks up to 5 times. Lasts 30 sec.

How to reach Maelstrom Weapon

Row 6 opens after you spend 25 points in the earlier Enhancement rows. Level 35 is the earliest you can pick up Maelstrom Weapon.

Is Maelstrom Weapon worth the points?

Every rank makes the effect stronger, so putting in a few points while leveling is totally fine. Max it when the final rank is the heart of your endgame build. And if you only need it as a stepping stone, no shame in stopping early.
